Arlasolve™ DMI – Spot on Actives Delivery
ARLASOLVE DMI gives formulators the ability to boost performance and delivery of skin care actives in their formulations. ARLASOLVE DMI is an exceptional solublizer for key active ingredients such as Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO), and also reduces BPO’s skin irritation potential in both rinse off and leave on products. Dissolved and Delivered: Maximizing Efficacy of Actives
Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) is supplied in a crystalline form that needs to be dissolved in the acne treatment formulation in order to be efficacious. If not properly dissolved, the BPO will not be effectively delivered to the skin because the particles will be too large to penetrate into the pores where the P. acnes bacteria are found.
The solution is to effectively dissolve the BPO – then it can readily get into the pores and start to work against bacteria. The following image shows BPO crystals in two formulations, one which contains ARLASOLVE DMI and one that does not. It is evident that the formulation containing ARLASOLVE DMI has far fewer instances of BPO re-agglomeration than the formulation without.
ARLASOLVE DMI enhances the performance of Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) in self-tanning formulations, which work by reacting with proteins in the skin to form brown-colored compounds. Addition of ARLASOLVE DMI not only promotes a deeper, longer-lasting tan but also improves formulation spreadability, allowing more uniform skin coverage and mitigating streaking. The image below shows application of a DHA-containing cream with and without 5% ARLASOLVE DMI - the increased color intensity is clearly evident in the formulation containing ARLASOLVE DMI.
