Our personal care highlights so far from 2023

As we find ourselves way past the halfway mark of 2023, we would like to reflect on the journey we've had in the personal care industry. Here at Croda, Sederma, Crodarom and Alban Muller, we are proud to celebrate new and exciting product launches, innovative and on-trend formulations developed by our global R&D teams, and insightful trend analyses provided by our global marketing teams, to meet the evolving needs of consumers.

New product launches

Our commitment to enhancing personal care experiences has been exemplified by a series of exciting product launches across our brands. We have introduced innovative and sustainable skin care, hair care and body care ingredients that cater to a diverse range of consumer needs.

For hair care, Croda's naturally derived, biodegradable and non-aqua toxic, inclusive ingredient SensaLuxe™ DF launched in EMEA. This emollient delivers consumer perceivable improvements for hair that is smoother, softer and more manageable, and provides a novel alternative to some traditional hair care actives to enhance the condition of damaged hair in its dry state.

Sederma unveiled Mel(o)stem, a brand-new active ingredient that targets both dark and white pigment disorders caused by sun damage, to promote an even complexion and sun capital preservation. Derived through plant cell culture, this ingredient has unique sustainable attributes including a 100% waste recovery process and full transparency on sourcing and processing.

Crodarom launched PhytAura, a high-performance active ingredient with proven efficacy. Made from a mixture of four plants inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, PhytAura helps to restore skin balance as well as addressing sensitive skin with soothing, hydrating and strengthening effects. Crodarom also launched new data for Zanthocare. The multifunctional and inclusive plant-derived ingredient provides balance, protection against oxidative stress, and soothes the skin by reducing inflammation. Recent tests have further proved the balancing properties of Zanthocare using sensory and electroencephalogram evaluation to analyse emotions created during application.

Our formulation experts from across the globe have been developing innovative and on-trend formulations that bring together novel ingredients from Croda, bioactive ingredients from Sederma's range of actives, natural botanicals from Crodarom and Alban Muller, as well fragrances from Iberchem and Parfex, to provide total formulation package expertise.

Our ever popular Top Five formulation campaign focused on hair care with Croda's Top Five Hair Care Formulations. campaign. To meet a growing demand for evolving hair care routines and products that are not only sustainable, but also multifunctional, this collection of formulations was created to keep both the hair and scalp in tip-top condition. It includes our Nourishing Hair Block, a solid shampoo bar that is both environment and travel-friendly, providing gentle cleansing and effective conditioning to leave the hair and scalp feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. Our Primed for Perfection Pre-Style Treatment is a leave-in spray primer that is the ultimate step for achieving frizz-free, hydrated locks. For a quick boost, Refresh-Me Hair and Scalp Refresh Spray helps to allow for more time between washes, saving both time and water! Beauty Sleep Overnight Hair Masque provides the ultimate treat to the hair and scalp whilst you sleep. Packed with ingredients that bring softness, conditioning, hydration and shine, it also contains active ingredients to treat the scalp. Last but not least is our Minimalist Gentle Shampoo, a formulation that meets the demand for minimalist ingredients whilst providing maximum performance. Textured hair routine formulation kit presentation

At Croda, we believe that beauty should be inclusive and cater to the diverse needs of all individuals. This year, we took a significant step towards understanding and meeting unique requirements of people with textured hair. To achieve this, we organised a consumer focus group in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where we listened to many women talking about their textured hair, what it represents for them, how they feel about it, their characteristics, hair care routines and products they use. This resulted in invaluable insights that have allowed our technical team to develop specific formulations, based on the needs and routines consumers shared directly with us. Building on the knowledge we acquired, we are proud to present our collection of formulations for the ideal Textured Hair Routine. Authentic beauty official image: find inspiration to develop customised products

In the first half of this year Sederma celebrated authentic beauty with their Be Unique, Be Authentic campaign. This initiative placed a spotlight on the individuality of every person and their unique needs. With a focus on customisation, this campaign addresses demands for personal care products, that cater to specific age groups, skin colours, and skin sensitivities whilst also prioritising ethical practices, sustainability and safety standards. At Croda, sustainability is at very core of our operations and values and is at the heart of everything we do.

Sederma, Alban Muller and Crodarom have released a new brochure dedicated to their CSR strategy: Be ACTIVEly Committed. This brochure showcases their commitment to sustainability and responsible practices to make a positive impact on the environment, society and the beauty industry. Company news

Croda has successful completed the acquisition of Solus BioTech, a global leader in premium, biotechnology-derived materials based in South Korea. This acquisition will not only expand Croda's biotechnology-derived skin care portfolio, it will also expand its manufacturing capabilities in Asia. The addition of Solus Biotech to the Croda family opens new avenues for the development of high-performance, biotechnology-derived ingredients to deliver more effective and sustainable products to cater to the evolving needs of consumers globally. in-cosmetics Global 2023 provided Croda with the opportunity to take our customers on an inspiring journey of wellness. At the exhibition that took place in Barcelona, Spain in March, we showcased product launches from across our personal care brands, as well as a series of formulations that demonstrate how ingredients from Croda, Sederma, Crodarom, Alban Muller, Iberchem and Parfex  work in synergy to make Croda Personal Care the ultimate, sustainable solution provider. Croda has also actively participated at a number of local events within EMEA in the first half of 2023 with presence at Cosmet'agora and U'cosmetic in France, CosmeticBusiness in Munich, Germany, and CHCI'23 in Istanbul, Turkey,

Events planned in for the rest of 2023 include Croda's sponsorship of the IFSCC Congress that will be taking place in Barcelona in September this year. Our EMEA country teams are also busy organising local events including Cosmetorium that will take place in Barcelona, Spain in September, as well as HPCi in Warsaw, Poland, and I feel good in Paris, France also in September. Our Croda GmbH team will be exhibiting at the Sepawa Congress in October, and in November we have both Making Cosmetics in Milan, Italy, and SCS Formulate in Coventry, UK.

Look out for more initiatives and innovation from all of our Croda personal care brands throughout the rest of 2023. Croda will launch an informative blog dedicated to wellbeing which will be supported our Top Five Wellness-Inspired Formulations campaign showcasing a series of formulas that embrace the essence of wellness. Sederma will focus on dermo-cosmetics with the launch of a new biotech ingredient, and out Botanicals Alliance will launch an exciting new botanical ingredient that uses the power of nature to deliver benefits.
