The use of Ginseng goes back more than 5,000 years in Korea and in China where this plant was then considered as a miracle remedy for all ills. The scientific "Panax" is derived from the Greek, "Pan" which means "all" and the word "Arkos" which means "to heal". In Korea, Ginseng is also called insam, which is “root of life”. Ginseng has been a part of traditional Chinese medicine for more than 2,000 years. Doctors attribute it the faculty to increase vitality and the appetite, to calm spirits and provide wisdom. The main components of Ginseng are ginseng saponins and also sterols, proteins, amino acids, cyclic-AMP and vitamin B complexes. Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (c-AMP) is responsible as a secondary messenger for the metabolic processes in the inner of the cells. It is said to prevent changes and appearances of early ageing of the skin.
