Sustainability At Our Core
"We use our smart science to innovate with our customers to meet their needs and improve lives by contributing to the challenge of the SDGs." - Steve Foots
In times of increasing environmental, social and economic uncertainty, we are determined to continue playing our part in meeting the global challenges and to make a positive impact. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are beginning to focus global efforts on positive change; for us in Croda they have reinforced our drive to provide solutions that support sustainable development as a moral and business imperative. We shall continue to thrive, not simply improving our own economic, social and environmental performance, but also actively creating positive change.
We continue to build on our renewable raw material heritage to create, make and sell sustainable solutions today, to positively influence tomorrow. Through the investments we make in innovation product design and flexible operations, we are working with our supply chain to develop products that deliver more benefits, with less impact. This coupled with active participation in regulatory debates, ensures that we are at the forefront of providing answers to the challenges presented.
We understand the importance of sustainable manufacturing practices. We are constantly looking for ways to minimize the negative impacts on the environment while conserving energy and natural resources. We are confident that this strategy will generate even greater benefits for the environment in which we operate, the people that we work with and the communities we are part of.
Sustainable product innovation
We know that product innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. We assess the everyday impact of our products in two ways: intrinsic, referring to attributes such as renewable raw material content or “cradle-to-gate” carbon footprint; and extrinsic, which refers to the social, environmental and financial impacts our products have in use or as they biodegrade at the end of their life.
Croda and its stakeholders are committed to the principles of Sustainable Development for the supply of their raw materials, taking into consideration the environmental, social and economic impacts relating to their respective activities. Certifications and Regulations Beyond global, regional and local regulations, Croda strives for continuous improvement of its practices by getting official certifications like ISO 9001 and 14001 quality standards or the EFfCI GMP quality standard. This corporate governance naturally applies to the sustainability aspects with dedicated certifications.
