Croda are delighted to announce the launch of new ISO 16128 data. We have been working hard to create an extensive list of products that according to ISO 16128 guidelines are natural, organic or mineral cosmetic ingredients.
The rise in popularity of the ISO 16128 data is unsurprising as until now, there has not been an industry-wide definition of natural. From 2012-2018, there was a 50% increase in personal care products claiming to be ‘all-natural’ (Mintel.com). Trends such as Clean Beauty, DIY Beauty and Vegan Beauty have all contributed to this significant rise in demand for natural ingredients and formulations.
To be defined as natural, organic or mineral, products must be greater than 50% when calculated using one of the methods stated in the ISO 16128 standard. It is important to note that this is not a certification but a guide to calculating and categorising personal care ingredients to help select ingredients when formulating to meet the growing consumer demand for natural cosmetics.
Chris Sayner, Vice President – Corporate Sustainability said “Given our company’s long-established, and industry-leading heritage in natural chemistry, more than 60% of our raw materials come from bio-based sources therefore we are pleased to offer a wide range of ingredients meeting ISO16128 standard.”
We are passionate about helping our customers meet market demand and creating a list of products that are in-line with the ISO 16128 guideline is just one example of how we are doing this. To meet the needs of our customers, Croda, Crodarom and Sederma have an extensive list of products that meet the definitions outlined in the ISO 16128 standard. These have been embedded into our online product finder to make it quick and easy when searching for products with natural credentials. We are constantly innovating more natural and sustainable ingredients whilst also growing our list of personal care ingredients with natural certifications or compliance.
