Dragon fruit is also called ‘pitaya’ or ‘pita haya ’ and is the fruit of a Cactus native to Mexico. This very popular cactus is nowadays widely cultivated in tropical regions. The leaves and flowers of H. undatus were used by the old Mayas as a diuretic and healing agent.
Rich in mucilage and beta-cyanins, dragon fruit has antioxidant, hydrating and refrehsing virtues.
