Beauty follows food
Previously the word ‘vegan’ has naturally drawn the mind towards food and diet. However, as many consumers adopt a vegan lifestyle and abstain from the consumption of animals, there are now many other factors, such as climate change, animal welfare and alignment with personal values, that are also driving consumers towards this lifestyle change.
What is vegan beauty?
Veganism is no longer just associated with food, as part of this larger lifestyle shift, the beauty and personal care industry is experiencing a huge rise in demand for vegan beauty products. According to Mintel GNPD (2020), the number of products launches with vegan/no animal ingredient claims has risen by 537% from 2015-2020, with colour cosmetics and skin care leading the way!
Consumers are now more conscious about the impact of their decisions, across all aspects of their lives.
Formulating to meet consumer demands
The rise in conscious consumerism has fuelled the demand from both brands and ingredient suppliers for more transparency around ingredient sourcing, supply chain and final product design.
We have an overview of all ingredients that meet our vegan suitable* criteria, listed in our Green Product Finder and we are always happy to work closely with our customers to help meet market demands. Sustainable product innovation
We know that product innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. We assess the everyday impact of our products in two ways: intrinsic, referring to attributes such as renewable raw material content or “cradle-to-gate” carbon footprint; and extrinsic, which refers to the social, environmental and financial impacts our products have in use or as they biodegrade at the end of their life.Learn more
